Castelvecchio Verona

i got to walk the battlements of this 1350 castle, peer through the arrow slits, imagine myself as an archer.

The bridge is similarly well defended. The big rain yesterday had the Adige river rushing along.

Double gates two places from the bridge to the castle. Nobody was breaching this place
glad I'm not the kid sent up 30 feet to put the torch in the sconce!

The museum was goid, mostly religious art. Explanations in four languages

St Bartholomew up there

Weapons and armor
paisley design in gold leaf from a sword scabbard.

And ongoing archeology.

Theres a Roman triumphal arch next door and the arena (huge) is nearby

Walked home different way so saw this church front. Sorry about my finger!
home for late lunch, after 5 hours on my feet, tired.
