EXHAUSTED

Re arranging plans for Pompei. I cannot keep up this pace. My shorts literally fell down, I'm dropping weight so fast. (Thank you, African street vendor, for selling me safety pins!) Grocery store this a.m. Herculaneum, smaller and less crowded than Pompeii, via local train. Late lunch there. Home by 5. 

Tomorrow, Pompeii Scavi, and maybe only the Villa of Mysteries section, at that. Late lunch at a salumeria. Back to B&B to watch TV tennis, maybe. Saturday, scale Vesuvius first thing. Explore the modern town a bit, find lunch place. Home by 2. Take time packing and figure out Pullman/bus to Bari. You need an hour per day to play travel agent, switching cities every 3-4 days.

Another nice B&B, another gracious host. 7th floor, view from balcony. 7 a.m. 

No one speaks English here I am forewarned! 

11 €; for a  pound of cheeses I probably never had, a pound of carrots, a Hybrid breakfast of yogurt and roll 3 mornings. Pound of carrots. 3 different bottled waters. So 6 meals, 11€. Plus snack for bus trip tobBari
